Our long-suffering protagonist has left her Sanrio katana in the locker and then forgot her combination. Now she can't help all her friends slay the oni who attack her school... She looks less wistful here, all due to a small change in lighting...
Whereas in the rough sketch, she does have that same wistful look- all her friends are off killing demons and she can't join in until she remembers that damn combination!
