Midnight at the St. Notional Cathedral

In an effort to expand my horizons, I decided to draw somebody on a rooftop with a gargoyle because merciful Buddha knows I hadn't already done a score of other sketches that look suspiciously like this one!

Of course, I've discarded this approach in favor of a more rapid prototyping style... Now I would raytrace the background and spend a few days playing around with the lighting and camera angles until I had a solid composition, Then I'd stick the guy and the gargoyle in as an afterthought. If I were to finish this today, I'd mess with the composition to allow more bats. If memory serves, I threw them in there to balance out the negative space and bring the eye back down from that awful line shooting right off the page

Sadly enough, I now think the bats are the most interesting thing about this shot. I should just crop the guy out and focus on the bats, backlit by a really luscious sunset
