I was in the car with a friend when I saw this insect. Its life had departed, but I still saw beauty in it. I'm not sure what type of bug it was, but it looks somewhat like an Egyptian scarab beetle, which is interesting as my friend is a great lover of all things Egyptian. He kept it and I took a picture. If I could have set it free alive, I would have gladly done so; but, since it was gone at the time that I found it, I decided to do this small painting to honor it. The piece has a surreal realist feel.
The original painting is a 7"x5" acrylic painting on canvas with some light silver iridescence in the original painting. It is also available as a 7"x5" Open Edition giclee print and as a 3.5"x2.5" Limited Edition ACEO giclee print. The ACEO edition is limited to 25.
